Jordan Liberty
Jordan Liberty was born the son of two artists, neither of whom used their talents (at that time) to make a living. Throughout his life he was emphatically encouraged to pursue a career in the arts by family and friends, but his innate ability and motivation were the driving force behind his many achievements growing up in small-town northern Ohio. By the end of high school, Jordan had established himself in the art community as a remarkably seasoned artist. His love of music, dance, art, and design were apparent, and he pursued further education in Philadelphia after graduation. Majoring in advertising and later menswear fashion, Jordan was drawn to the fast-paced world of fashion photography and modeling. It was this interest that led to his career as a makeup artist.
With experience doing makeup for runway, film, event, retail, and (primarily) editorial pieces, Jordan has a firm understanding of what real women want from their makeup. It is this understanding that led to the creation of ‘Give Good Face,’ his highly anticipated book that deconstructs his own portfolio – recipe style. “I want this book to be educational, of course,” he says. “But instructional books are boring and tired, women should feel inspired to try something new, not forced to. This book is fun, challenging at times, informative, but most of all – different.”
The book, expected to be available for international sale later this year, has been a long-winded journey. As of today, Jordan and Jonny (Jonathan Sorber, fashion photographer) have spent more than 200 hours in the studio shooting visuals for the book. From mild to wild, they have collaborated their efforts towards a singular vision – which “will be apparent when readers turn the pages. Jonny and [Jordan] have a signature style that is clean, sharp, and unafraid. There are no smoke and mirrors here, just raw in-your-face makeup – something the industry hasn’t seen in a while.”
